Top four questions from parents

Here are the most common questions parents have about our summer programmes in Oxford and Cambridge.

How will attending a Varsity Education summer programme prepare my child for top university admissions?

We specialise in preparing students for competitive admissions at top universities such as Oxford or Cambridge. Students receive one-on-one tailored guidance on writing their UCAS Personal Statement, realistic mock ‘Oxbridge-style’ interviews in their chosen subject, and advice on choosing their course and college. Each student will leave with better knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses, first-hand experience of undergraduate life, guidance on how to further build their academic profile in their chosen subjects and a personalised roadmap for university admissions success.

45 hours of expert tuition in one-on-one and small group tutorials challenges students to university-level thinking and thoroughly prepares them for an application to their chosen university degree programme.

What makes us different to other programmes?

Our teaching faculty is 100% comprised of current Oxbridge teaching fellows, undergraduates, postgraduates and alumni of Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

We are a not-for-profit organisation. This means that we reinvest any surplus funds into the most generous scholarship and bursary schemes available. This is to ensure that we are broadening access to higher education and providing students with the essential skills needed for a prestigious university career, regardless of background.

We place strict limits on the number of spaces on each of our programmes. This ensures that students get a level of individual attention that’s simply not possible on larger summer programmes. Class sizes are guaranteed to be no more than seven students per tutor, and are sometimes even smaller.

When is the application deadline? And how do I apply?

We accept students into our programmes on a rolling basis and because of the limited places available, we tend to fill up quickly. Therefore, we encourage students to apply as soon as possible to ensure they get to study the two subjects of their choice. Once you apply, you will normally receive an offer to study with us within one week.

Are all the travel arrangements included?

When your child arrives in the UK, the Varsity Education team will be waiting for them in uniforms in the airport arrivals hall. Our team members will accompany students on a private shuttle bus between London Heathrow Airport and the college on both Arrival Day and on Departure Day. Following a successful application, you will receive advice on the best time to arrive to make use of these complimentary transfers.

If your child will be arriving in the UK by car or train, please contact us for more information on pick-up and drop-off arrangements.
