2018 Tutor positions

This is a great opportunity to spend your summer in Oxford and Cambridge whilst also gaining valuable teaching experience in your subject area. Our students attend our programmes from both the UK and worldwide and are all keen to attend a top UK University whilst learning more about competitive admissions.

We are running two, two-week programmes in Cambridge between 8th July – 5th August and one two-week programme in Oxford between 7th August – 21st August.

We are looking for advanced undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates from Oxford and Cambridge to lead students in small group classes (in both subject specific lessons as well as study skills workshops), complete general pastoral tasks and accompany students on excursions and activities around the city. There are a number of part or full-time roles on offer.

We are still looking for tutors for the following subjects:

  • Economics
  • Business & Management
  • Computer Science
  • Psychology (8th – 22nd July only)
  • Law
  • Politics (7th – 21st August only)
  • International Relations (7th – 21st August only)

2018 House Parent roles

We are looking for capable individuals to take on a House Parent role for our summer programmes.

We are looking for candidates to work with the small team supervising between 40 and 60 students on our residential programmes in Cambridge and Oxford. They will work closely with the Course Directors to ensure all aspects of the programme run smoothly.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of classes and activities
  • Be primary point of contact for our team of capable tutors
  • Coordinating staff and students on arrival and departure days
  • Ensure the academic and pastoral wellbeing of the students
  • Prepare and lead morning briefings with the students
  • Prepare for staff meetings
  • Register students at meal times and at evening curfew
  • Follow up on students who are late for class/miss classes
  • Assist with the running and scheduling of tutorials and/or extra classes
  • Planning and leading two full day excursions

This is a temporary post available in July and August for one or more of our programmes:

  • Cambridge Summer College Session 1: 8th July – 22nd July 2018
  • Cambridge Summer College Session 2: 22nd July – 5th August 2018
  • Oxford Summer College: 7th August – 21st August 2018

Hours: Not your average 9 til 5 role – there will sometimes be evening duties but you will share a rota with other Housemasters. You will be scheduled to work six days a week for a total of approximately 45 hours.

This post would be ideal for a candidate who has either secondary teaching experience or housemaster experience with students in this age range.

Marketing Intern

Varsity Education is a not-for-profit organisation offering pre-university courses to 15-18 year olds. We are looking for a confident, motivated individual to join our team as a Marketing Intern.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience and to add a professional reference on your Curriculum Vitae.

The Marketing Intern will be responsible for gathering, curating and preparing marketing materials during our academic summer programmes in Oxford and Cambridge. You will need excellent copywriting skills, an eye for a great photo, and to be confident and sociable when dealing with young people and other members of staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Photo documentation of the programme
  • Writing of our student journal, which goes out to all the parents daily
  • Providing social media creative to the marketing team
  • General administrative tasks
  • Planning your own schedule in coordination with programme staff

Essential Skills:

  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to travel
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Good photography skills (equipment will be provided)
  • Proven organisation skills
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable Skills:

  • Good understanding of UK higher education system

The Marketing Intern role will be based in Oxford and/or Cambridge. You may apply to intern for Oxford Summer College, Cambridge Summer College, or both. During the programme(s), the Intern will be required to accompany students to other locations around Oxford/Cambridge.
