Varsity Education was established to help students come to terms with the application process that exists for the great majority of top international universities and to give students a taste of what it will be like to study at an elite university so that students can approach their future studies with confidence.
What makes our Summer College programmes unique is that they have been designed by current professors from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge to mimic the work that undergraduates at these elite institutions complete in their first term.
For the duration of the course, students live on campus in colleges in the heart of both Oxford and Cambridge. By staying in real student rooms, students will get to experience what it is like to be part of a community in which students from a range of faculties live, eat and socialise together.
At our Summer Colleges, students have the opportunity of choosing two subjects to study over the two-week period. Lessons take the form of lectures and small-group seminars in which students will receive individual attention and are encouraged to explore their chosen subject in great depth. In experiencing this unique ‘Oxbridge’ system of education, students will be in a better position to excel in their field at a top institution.
Our courses are tough and will challenge students intellectually, going beyond the school curriculum to build upon skills that are crucial to any student’s success. For example, we develop students’ critical thinking skills, teaching them to form coherent and logical arguments and express and defend ideas.
But undergraduate life isn’t all about academic pursuits, so we offer students a full cultural and sporting programme that emphasises those pursuits which are deemed the most popular at Oxbridge, including punting, cycling, traditional sports like rugby and football and more leisurely activities like croquet and cricket.
So that students get to truly experience the UK, we take students on a cultural excursion outside of their city. This is in addition to organising educational excursions around Oxford and Cambridge, both to supplement classroom learning and to help students decide which college they would like to apply to.
